Over the last few years, we have grown Weeks Until from a humble 1 page beginning into a fully fledged, yet super simple, service to find the weeks (or days) until any date you can think of. Equally major world events, bank holidays, festivals, religious holidays, and anything else we could think of, they are all searchable too. Eg, how many weeks until donut day?
But here is the thing… 80% of our users are ignoring the events in our database. They use our website to find the weeks until their own dates – How rude ☺… (Just joking, we love that feedback).
Today we take that to the next level, and we’re anxious to see how you are going to use it.
Introducing: My Weeks Until
My Weeks Until is exactly what it says on the tin. It is still WeeksUntil, but it is designed and personalised, just for you. All your countdowns in one place. It couldn’t be simpler
Why did we build it?
My Weeks Until comes from many months of analysis, seeing how users interact with our site, talking to people who have used it, responding to every email that’s fired our way. There have been some very nice words of praise (and some not so nice too, but we forgive you).
The overwhelming finding was that 80% of our visitors purely search for a date by picking that date in the drop-downs if they land on our homepage. But more often that not from hitting our site from a google search and then landing directly on the page they want.
So that was the biggest insight, dates themselves are more important to you than the general events. We wanted to know why, so we added a little plugin that let us occasionally ask a few users why they search for that date. It was 100% clear, people find dates because they want to know the countdown to their own events. How many weeks until John’s birthday? How many weeks until I retire? How many days until summer holidays? You name it… we’ve seen it.
Now obviously, we can’t put all these dates available to everyone. So you’re gonna need your own private area – so that is exactly what we’ve done. We call this My Weeks Until
At Weeks Until, we like simplicity. So we didn’t want to make this complicated. There are too many systems, calendars, todo lists out there that start simple but end up packed with thousands of features no one needs. So we have kept that simplicity in mind at all times – it was hard to let some of the ideas go, but important too.
That is why My Weeks Until only does one thing – shows you the countdown to YOUR events.
One page, doesn’t interfere with the rest of the site, and you can save a password against it to come back and see your events and dates any time you like. It will always show an up-to-date weeks, days or smart (more readable for more distant dates) until the event/date.
